How to Fix Arc Raiders Console Issues (PS5 & Xbox Series X/S)

Targeted fixes for PS5 overheating, Xbox freezes, crossplay voice chat bugs, and controller aim-assist glitches.

Fix PS5 Overheating & Sudden Shutdowns

Arc Raiders is causing thermal spikes that shut down the PS5 without warning for many players, especially during extraction. The console hits its thermal limit and powers off to protect the hardware.

Community-verified fixes:

  1. Lower the in-game FOV to the absolute minimum. Reducing the field of view lessens the rendering load and helps keep temperatures down.
  2. Perform a full console power cycle. Do not use Rest Mode—resuming from sleep triggers crashes and instability. Fully power off the PS5, wait a minute, then turn it back on.
  3. Limit sessions to 2–3 raids. Extended play increases the chance of thermal buildup. Take breaks between short sessions.

Ensure the console has plenty of airflow and is not inside a cabinet or covered.

Fix Xbox Series X/S Freezes & Stuttering

On Xbox Series X and S, the game can stutter during quick turns and combat. Freezes are often tied to cache buildup or aggressive dynamic resolution.

The fix: do a full console and game restart to clear the cache. Fully quit Arc Raiders, power off the console (or use full shutdown in settings), then power back on and launch the game again.

If the option is available in game or system settings, disable dynamic resolution or other automatic graphics features to reduce stuttering and improve stability.

Crossplay Voice Chat & Proximity Chat Bugs

Crossplay voice chat and proximity chat often fail or desync. Xbox Party chat overrides in-game proximity chat. If you are in an Xbox Party, you will not hear in-game proximity chat. Leave the Party app to hear other players in proximity.

On PS5, go to System Settings → Sound and ensure "Mute Game Voice Chat" is OFF. If it is on, you will not hear or be heard in game.

For general audio desyncs across platforms, toggling Crossplay OFF and then ON again in the game settings fixes the majority of issues. Try this before digging into system settings.

Controller Aim-Assist & Deadzone Glitches

Console aim-assist currently pulls too hard to center-mass, making precise tracking difficult. Combined with default deadzone settings, it can feel sticky or uncontrollable.

Go to the Practice Range and manually drop your controller deadzones to 0 (or minimal) to regain tracking control. Adjust from there until aim feels responsive without over-aggressive pull.

If the game adds separate aim-assist strength options in a future patch, reducing strength can also help.
