How to Fix Arc Raiders PC Crashes & Fatal Errors

Force DirectX 11 in Steam

Many PC crashes and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors in Arc Raiders are tied to DirectX 12. Forcing the game to use DirectX 11 often stabilizes it.

In Steam: right-click Arc Raiders → Properties. In the General tab, find Launch Options and type:

Save and launch the game. It will run on DX11 and many fatal crash errors stop occurring.

Disable CPU Virtualization (VT-x / SVM)

Unreal Engine 5 can conflict with hardware virtualization. If you have Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) or AMD SVM enabled in the BIOS, it can contribute to crashes and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.

Enter your BIOS (restart and press the key shown at boot—often F2, Del, or F12). Find and disable Intel Virtualization Technology or AMD SVM. Save and exit. Test Arc Raiders again.

Disable RAM Overclocking (EXPO / XMP)

High-speed RAM profiles (EXPO on AMD, XMP on Intel) can corrupt UE5 asset streaming and cause crashes. If you have EXPO or XMP enabled, try turning it off in the BIOS.

Boot into BIOS, locate EXPO (AMD) or XMP (Intel) and set it to Disabled. Save and exit. The game will run at JEDEC default speeds, which are more stable for many players.
